May 11, 2023MG Apparel Receives The Women Empowerment & Gender Diversity Recognition Award 2024
April 23, 2024Gender-based violence is a paramount challenge in today’s world, that remains unaddressed due to various reasons which include lack of awareness, scarcity of resources and a general stigma around the topic in underprivileged communities.
Various events are held globally in order to curb violence against women, including the 16 Days Of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence – an annual international campaign held from 25th November to 10th December, coordinated by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership. The campaign calls for the collective awareness and elimination of VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls) by organizations and communities around the world.
In light of the 16 days of activism, MG Apparel is proud to be at the forefront of the campaign and play a major role in promoting a workforce free from discrimination and violence against women.
As a progressive organization with women empowerment being one of our core values, MG Apparel has gone above and beyond in ensuring an inclusive workspace. Women form 75% of our workforce, occupying management and senior level positions on par with men. This is a significant milestone considering the conservative setting of South Punjab, Multan, where MG Apparel is based.
Under the HR team’s leadership, MG Apparel’s Learning and Development teams have implemented policies aimed at fostering a conducive environment for female employees. The comprehensive approach includes seminars, workshops, and tailored sessions, enlightening males about respectful conduct while empowering female employees to identify and address any signs of potential workplace violence effectively.
We have also implemented Zero Tolerance policies for harassment, bullying and violence of all forms. We have a comprehensive grievance procedure catering to employees who may have encountered hindrances of any kind. We ensure a proper system to address all employee concerns through email.
As we empower our female employees, we also understand that empowerment cannot be implemented to its true potential unless males are enlightened with the importance of being an advocate for gender equality. We conduct gender sensitization workshops for our male workers in which their preconceived notions regarding the equal role of women in the professional realm. These workshops are essential, particularly in the context of Multan where the concept of gender quality is still relatively new.
Furthermore, we have incorporated a wide range of facilities to accommodate our female employees, such as transportation, maternity leaves, menstruation leaves, daycare and regular training workshops for the workers to provide them with opportunities to grow professionally.
At MG Apparel, the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is not merely a campaign but an ongoing pursuit of a workplace where every individual, regardless of gender, feels safe, respected, and empowered to achieve their fullest potential.
